AAF-Akron Names 2014 Silver Medal Award Winner
AKRON, Ohio (February 3, 2014) — The Akron chapter of the American Advertising Federation (AAF-Akron) has announced its distinguished Silver Medal Award will be given to Jack DeLeo, recently retired president/CEO of Hitchcock Fleming & Associates, Inc. (hfa).
The American Advertising Federation (AAF) Silver Medal Award Program was established in 1959 to recognize men and women who have made outstanding contributions to advertising, as well as have been active in furthering the industry's standards, creative excellence and responsibility in areas of social concern. This local award is the highest level of recognition given by the Akron chapter of AAF and is akin to a lifetime achievement award in advertising.
"Many outstanding practitioners in our community were nominated for our Silver Medal Award," said Cecilia Sveda, president of AAF-Akron and creative in chief at Minx Design. "Mr. DeLeo has impacted so many employees, clients and charity organizations throughout his career at hfa. He's set a standard of achievement for future recipients."
The AAF-Akron special selection committee selected DeLeo, nominated by the hfa executive committee, during a closed session vote in late December. The Silver Medal Award will be presented to DeLeo at the American Advertising Awards (formerly called the ADDYs) on Friday, Feb. 21, at The Akron Civic Theatre. Details available at www.AkronADDYs.com.
DeLeo said, "I am truly honored to be recognized by the Akron Chapter of the American Advertising Federation for my 41 years in marketing leadership. Akron and Northeast Ohio have built a strong reputation for marketing excellence. This award is also a tribute to our clients and hfa's great team of associates."
The prestigious American Advertising Awards event is a three-tiered national competition conducted annually by AAF. The American Advertising Awards, considered the world's largest advertising competition, honors creative excellence and cultivates the highest creative standards in the industry. Awards are given in 15 categories, including sales promotion, collateral, direct marketing, interactive and broadcast.
