Live streaming video is having a big moment. Platforms such as Periscope, Meerkat, Facebook Live and YouTube Live are dominating the social landscape and have quickly become a new type of content — entirely different from standard video streaming. Because of this, live streaming may be something to add to your video marketing strategy, especially if you're looking to improve your social media engagement and sharing.

Facebook Live allows you to connect with your audience at the click of a button, giving your fans a real-time, behind-the-scenes look into your brand—no edits, cuts or captions required. People crave authenticity, and Facebook Live gives you just that—the opportunity to humanize your brand, create a better overall experience and help grow your fan base.

On average, Facebook Live videos reach 22% of your fans, while embedded YouTube videos reach only 13% of fans. That's because Facebook Live videos are prioritized in News Feed, making it more likely your fans will see your content before anything else. It's important to note that live videos can be saved for later; however, people spend 3x the amount of time watching a live video than one that's pre-recorded.
